The Scotland Under-21 midfielder attracted interest from Italy and England after turning down a new deal to stay with Aberdeen. The likes of Bologna, Hellas Verona and Cagliari were all heavily linked with Barron and the youngster was expected to follow fellow Scots Lewis Ferguson, Josh Doig and Aaron Hickey by moving to Serie A.But Barron eventually decided to remain in Scotland by committing his long-term future to Rangers after being lured to Ibrox by Philippe Clement.
