Rangers would have to “seriously consider” a last-minute big money transfer approach for Jack Butland, according to Barry Ferguson.
Philippe Clement had insisted that the Englishman is not for sale earlier in the summer transfer window, having previously been the subject of a late approach from Nottingham Forest in January [Daily Record, 30 January].Although Go Radio pundit Ferguson doesn’t want to see the keeper exit Ibrox before the 30 August deadline, he admits that every player in the Light Blues’ side is available at the price at this stage of the window.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (28 August, 23:55) he said: “Every player has a price on their head.
“If somebody comes in and they’re willing to pay £15million or £20million for Jack Butland then I would imagine the club would have to seriously consider that.You don’t want them to consider that, because Jack is a massive part of the team going forward, but just in any team and certainly up in Scotland with Rangers and Celtic every player has a price on their headFerguson suggests, in an ideal world the Light Blues would be able to reject any offers that arrived for all of their players in the final days of the transfer window, but that simply isn’t possible at Ibrox this summer.
