Scott Wright is set to sign a three-year contract with Birmingham City as he finalises a move away from Rangers, according to Football Scotland.
Writing on their website [29 August], the news outlet reported that Wright will complete his move to the League One outfit pending a medical, which has already been booked.The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Gers all summer after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Philippe Clement and is now set to leave for deal worth around £300,000 [Sky Sports].
Wright has been in and out of the Rangers side this season but his exit has been viewed as a necessary means to an end as the club will look to use his sale to fund further signings in the remaining 24 hours of the transfer window.
It is a significant step down for the former Scottish U21 international. Had he managed to win over Clement in the opening fixtures of the season, he could be playing Europa League and Scottish Premiership football this campaign.
