James Tavernier disgrace after what he did in Rangers defeat v Celtic
Calum Crowe has slammed Rangers captain James Tavernier for his embarrassing antics in the 3-0 defeat against Celtic on Sunday 1 September.
The Scottish Daily Mail journalist, writing in its print edition (2 September, page 67) insisted that his basic lack of urgency was a “disgrace” at Parkhead.
Tavernier was spotted playing with his socks as Celtic got in behind the captain, as the lack of leadership became a massive issue once again at Ibrox.
He wrote: “There was a moment early in the second half when Celtic played the ball in behind the full-back, who wasn’t even paying attention as he was busy fixing his socks.
“The ball was in play in his area of the pitch, and he’s the Rangers captain day-dreaming and messing about with his socks.t was absolutely embarrassing and emblematic not only of this game, but of why Rangers have toiled so badly in recent years against their rivals.
“For a Rangers captain to show such a basic lack of urgency and application against Celtic is, frankly, a disgrace.”
