John Bennett destroyed as BBC journalist Tom English issues £20m Rangers update
Rangers chairman John Bennett has been slammed by Tom English for investing £20million into the Ibrox club.
The BBC journalist was responding to a Gers fan who criticised Bennett for not getting Graeme Souness on the club’s board.

This happened in the aftermath of the 3-0 defeat against Celtic in the Old Firm derby on 1 September.
English wrote on X: “A fool? He’s invested over £20m in Rangers. Maybe that is foolish now that I think of it.”
John Bennett certainly has to do better at Rangers
Bennett, as the club’s chairman, is not just an investor but the architect of the club’s strategic direction, including the governance and operational structure that directly impacts the team’s performance.
The criticism from English, following the significant Old Firm defeat, underscores a perceived disconnect between Bennett’s financial investment and the tangible benefits on the pitch.
This scenario suggests that despite the monetary input, the structural framework Bennett has overseen hasn’t effectively supported the manager or enhanced team dynamics.
The lack of integrating figures like Souness, with their wealth of footballing insight, into key decision-making roles might reflect a broader issue in how the club’s resources, both human and financial, are managed.
