Rangers board open to new investment at Ibrox in new developments
Andy Newport has shared that some Rangers board members would be willing to speak to outside investors at Ibrox.
The Daily Record journalist insisted that you cannot blame the board for not spending money, but how it was spent ahead of the 3-0 defeat against Celtic on 1 September.
It is said that the right person would need to be found to invest in the club, with it suggested that it needs to happen to close the Old Firm gap.
Speaking on the Daily Record’s Rangers Podcast (3 September) Newport shared the latest on potential investment in Govan.
“One thing you can’t fault this board for is for putting the money in, the way that they’ve spent it is the issue,” he said.
“There would be people on the board that would be willing to speak to outside investors.
“It’s just finding the right person, the person you can trust obviously so I think you can understand the wariness among the supporters to welcome some outsider that they’ve never heard of.
“I think we’re at the stage where something like that needs to happen if Rangers want to close to gap to Celtic.”

Rangers to sign off on new investment?
Following a very average transfer window, it’s evident that Philippe Clement needs to get his team to buck their ideas up if they wish to challenge for the Scottish Premiership.
The Light Blues have gotten off to a terrible start and find themselves in fourth place, five points behind Celtic and Aberdeen already.
Whilst their 6-0 triumph against Ross County is undoubtedly the highlight of the season thus far, they need to start winning games against the likes of Hearts and Celtic if they wish to be taken seriously.

It’s still very early in the season to be making any sort of title predictions but, if their form stays as it is and fails to improve, Clement could find himself in a rather sticky situation.
There have already been rumours shared about his future [PLZ Soccer, 2 September] and the pressure is starting to build upon the Belgian’s shoulders already.
Things need to change soon, otherwise, the Gers could find themselves regretting the extension of the 50-year-old’s contract [Chris Sutton, 2 September].
Is investment needed for that to happen? Time will tell.
