Rangers takeover: US investors could seal deal with £100m bid – Keith Wyness
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Rangers could be purchased for an initial figure as low as £100million.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Ibrox club are an “attractive proposition” as rumours swirl about potential new investment.
According to City AM (27 August), Rangers are attracting takeover interest from American investors who value the club at around £150million.
It is claimed a number of the existing shareholders are thought to be open to selling.
Philippe Clement’s side have slipped further behind Celtic in recent years and the Belgian is yet to beat the Hoops after six derby clashes.
Rangers could be bought for ‘£100m plus bonuses’, says Wyness
Wyness insisted a “professional group” is needed to undertake a “rebuild” at Ibrox.

“I don’t know where to start with Rangers. They’ve had another poor start and this is a club which needs a rebuild.
“A new ownership group would be very important in that.
“In terms of the £150million valuation, if you think back – Bournemouth went for around £125-230m.
“Rangers are a far bigger club globally.
“At £150million, I think you could do a deal.
“You could even come in with £100million or £120million and make the rest up with bonus payments if they do well in the big competitions.
