John Lundstram’s move to Trabzonspor has reportedly been called into question by the club’s OWN technical director at a leaked meeting – with the former Rangers midfielder branded ‘heavy and cumbersome.’
The midfielder made the move to Turkey after leaving Ibrox in the summer, reuniting with Borna Barisic in the Super Lig after Philippe Clement opted against keeping him on. He’s started five of their eight games and been a central player, but things haven’t exactly gone to plan for his new club – they dropped out of BOTH the Europa and Conference Leagues and have drawn their opening two domestic games 0-0.
They were heavily criticised by their own fans after going out of the Europa League to Rapid Vienna and then the Conference after St Gallen eliminated them following a penalty shootout. And the club’s technical director Senol Gunes was widely quoted in Turkey expressing his disappointment at Lundstram’s performances in what were private conversations with the club’s coaching team which leaked out

He said: “I cannot understand the Lundstram transfer. We have several players with the same characteristics. Lundstram is a very heavy and cumbersome football player.
“There is nothing we can do at the moment, but if there is an opportunity to send him to another team, it would be good for both Lundstram and us.”
