Why Tony Bloom’s £10m Hearts investment should WORRY Rangers and Celtic

Kris Boyd reckons Tony Bloom’s potential £10million investment into Hearts should WORRY the Old Firm.
The Brighton owner is locked in discussions with the Jambos over a game-changing deal that would see the Tynecastle club utilise his hugely successful analytical company for player recruitment. The proposal – which would require at least 90 per cent voting approval from the members of the Foundation of Hearts, the club’s biggest shareholders – could also see Bloom become a minority stakeholder.
Bloom’s Brighton are arguably the best-run club in the Premier League and their data-driven recruitment model has seen them bank millions from player trading in recent years, including an eye-watering £94m profit from Moses Caicedo’s record-breaking switch to Chelsea.

The English businessman’s Starlizard sport analysis firm has been utilised by both Brighton and Union Saints-Gilloise and Hearts could be the next benefactors from the revolutionary software. And Boyd believes if a multi-million-pound agreement is reached, it could transform the Jambos into regular title contenders.

He told Sky Sports: “I think this is an interesting one for Scottish football. Hearts won’t be on the same page as Brighton in terms of recruitment, but you look at Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium and their rise from the first division under Tony Bloom.
“They’ve caused problems for the big ones, so if I’m Rangers and Celtic, I’m worried about his appointment. Tony Bloom is a shrewd, shrewd man. You look at the job he’s doing at Brighton and the influence he’s had a USG in Belgium – if I’m Hearts, I’m biting your hand off. The recruitment side could be a lot, lot better.
“Hearts are an attractive club who can get in players that can go and challenge Celtic and Rangers. As I said, if I were Rangers or Celtic, I would be worried about this one. There is potential for Hearts to go and challenge Rangers and Celtic. This could be a big thing for Scottish football.”
