Alasdair Gold amazed by 19-year-old Tottenham loanee who could have made a ‘huge difference’ to Ange Postecoglou’s first-team
Alasdair Gold has been left amazed by one Tottenham Hotspur loanee in particular after watching him at his temporary club midweek.
Tottenham Hotspur‘s policy has switched to bringing in younger players in recent years, which was evidenced by the signings of Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in the summer.
Gray and Bergvall were two of the standout performers for Spurs against Coventry City on Wednesday, leading to Ange Postecoglou labelling their display as ‘very good’.
The North London club have a number of promising players already at the club in the form of Mikey Moore, Will Lankshear and Alfie Devine.
Interestingly, Devine was even linked with a loan move to the Saudi Pro League this past summer.
And, it appears as if there is another player catching the eye of Alasdair Gold…

Alasadair Gold wowed by 19-year-old Tottenham loanee’s display
Ange Postecoglou has admitted he loves watching Gray, Odobert, Bergvall, Lankshear and Moore in training and he’s always been keen to give them a chance.
It looks as if one of the club’s youngsters is impressing at his loan club as Alasdair Gold got the chance to watch some action midweek.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold was stunned by how good Jamie Donley looked for Leyton Orient.
“I was watching Jamie Donley playing for Orient against Brentford the night before. So much of the stuff he was doing, now in hindsight, I was like ughhh, he’s gonna be at Orient and playing but my goodness.
“He was playing so many fast progressive passes, creative balls between the lines, setting people away. And you just kind of thought, had he started in that lineup I think Spurs have less problems, and I know that’s pitting a lot on what is he, 19 years old.
“But I actually think he was that good against Premier League opposition in Brentford, he would have made a huge difference. But, it’s better what he’s doing, I think the loan move.”

Donley featured for 72 minutes against Brentford in a 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat.
He won four duels, won one tackle, completed his only long ball, had a passing accuracy of 87%, 48 touches and made two key passes.
The left-footed creative midfielder definitely has a bright future ahead of him if he’s already looking at home against Premier League opposition.
Spurs would often go backwards against Coventry until James Maddison came on to link up the play, so you can understand why Gold wanted someone like Donley to play those midfield-splitting passes.
