Dominic Solanke is a strong striker
Spurs finally have a proper striker to lead the line for Ange Postecoglou, and Dominic Solanke has now opened his account for the Lilywhites after bagging the equaliser against Brentford.
From there, Tottenham were able to press on and secure the three points in a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison.
The goal for Solanke will no doubt have done him a world of good, but his performance overall has drawn praise for his intense pressing and high work rate.
Discussing Solanke’s role in the win, and what the striker offers for Tottenham, Ledley King told The Spurs Web (with Spursified) how much he would hate to be up against someone like Solanke.
He said: “Solanke works really hard. Sometimes that goes unrewarded, the hard work they put in, but I’m glad he got off the mark today.
“When you get strikers like that, they don’t stop running and they chase everything down, you never have any time on the ball [as a defender]. They’re a bit of a nuisance strikers like that to play against, but they’re good when they’re on your team, they’re very good.”

Spurs had to react to early setback
Going on to discuss the nature of the victory, and how Spurs battled back from a goal down, Tottenham legend King revealed he was happy with the way the team reacted.
He added: “Bad start, early goal, but the heads didn’t go down and we reacted really well to it. We got our equaliser pretty soon and kicked on from there, and always looked comfortable really. A very good three points.”

Solanke’s work rate is perfect for Postecoglou
Ange Postecoglou has made no secret about how highly he values hard work, intensity in the press, and a striker who will put himself about for the good of the team, and Solanke is certainly going to deliver on all those fronts.
It took some time to get the deal over the line, but Postecoglou has made it clear that Solanke was the top target he wanted in the summer, and now that he’s got his first goal we could and should see the floodgates open. If he keeps working hard, there’s no doubt he will be a success at Spurs.
