Neil McCann didn’t believe that Nectarios Triantis deserved to be sent off for Hibernian despite Rangers fans slamming the decision inside Ibrox.
The Gers earned all three points against Hibs on Sunday 29 September with the 1-0 win secured thanks to goals from Tom Lawrence. The clash could have been made easier if the Australian had been shown a red card for a questionable challenge midway through the first half.
It was clear what the Ibrox faithful thought of the challenge but, while speaking on Sky Sports Football (29 September, 12:28pm), McCann agreed with the referee’s decision.
He said: “My initial reaction is he’s low and he does get the ball but because the ball goes the other way. You can see he goes in there, he’s almost slipping.
He wins the ball clean for me, I haven’t got a problem with that but his slip makes it look much worse. It’s not a red card. Personally, I didn’t see too much wrong with it.”
