Bobby Madden fumes after what was said about Rangers v Hibernian incident
Bobby Madden admitted his “head is sore” after suggestions that Hibernian should have been allowed to retake their penalty against Rangers.
The Gers managed to squeeze past Hibs in an unconvincing 1-0 win on 28 September at Ibrox, thanks to Jack Butland’s save from the spot.
Robin Propper looked to have encroached but new rules coming into play this summer made that irrelevant after the miss as he wasn’t involved.
However, taking to his Instagram account (30 September), former Scottish referee Madden shut down suggestions and shared his professional opinion on the incident.
“My head is sore with this pish,” Madden wrote. “The goalkeeper is only required to have part of one foot on or above the goal line.
“As of the summer, a penalty is not retaken if there’s encroachment by a defender. It’s only retaken if they impact.”
Rangers controversy continues v Hibernian
Philippe Clement himself was fairly unconvincing about the incident after the match and his team weren’t much better at Ibrox.
Coming off the back of the 2-0 win over Malmo in the Europa League, it was clear that had taken its toll on the squad throughout the victory.

Rangers were likely hoping that their win would motivate them to spur on and capitalise on the momentum they made for themselves.
After a slow start since his move from FC Twente, Propper is finally starting to look solid alongside John Souttar in this new-look defensive partnership.
The defender was brought in for around £2.7million [Daily Record, 31 July] during the summer as a replacement for Conor Goldson.
While Hibs fans may feel hard done by from the decision, as Madden outlined, everything that went on during the game was by the book and nobody was at fault.
The Gers will need to make a major improvement if they wish to defeat Lyon on 3 October and add yet another three points to their Europa League tally.
