Tam McManus completely agrees with the red card call for Ianis Hagi on Sunday (6 October) but believes the Rangers man had no malice.
McManus posted on X [6 October] to deliver his view on the Romanian’s dismissal, which was confirmed by the referee following a VAR check late in the Gers’ 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Ibrox after a dangerous challenge on Benji Kimpioka.Hagi’s 100th appearance for the club – and first in over a year – ended on a sour personal note as after moving on from a stand-off over his contract terms, he will now serve a ban.
McManus, quoting the clip posted from Premier Sports, said: “[100%] a red card but I don’t think he has [gone] in to do him, just mistimed. Can happeBut there was one last complication in him – you would hope it’s the last – and his red card can provoke no real argument.
The attacking midfielder will serve his suspension and look to return to the side, though Philippe Clement is hopeful several of his injured charges will be fit to return after the international break.
