Craig Bellamy claims it is “just the numbers” as to why Rangers man Tom Lawrence has not been included in his Wales squad.
Lawrence recently revealed he had spoken with Bellamy about potential future inclusion in the Wales fold, but Bellamy decided against calling him up for matches against Iceland and Montenegro. The 30-year-old has been in positive recent form at Ibrox but has not represented his nation since March 2021.
Bellamy said, as quoted by The Independent [8 October]: “It’s just the numbers. I have a certain amount of numbers I can go to.
“Tom is definitely a player I really like, but at this present moment there’s one or two players I’ve put in those positions.”Lawrence had held out hope of returning to the international fold, having scooped 23 senior caps since 2015.
Brennan Johnson, Harry Wilson and Nathan Broadhead are among those to have been picked ahead of the experienced Light Blues ace, with Bellamy forced to carefully consider his options.
