Brendan Rodgers Explains The “Luxury” Aberdeen Have That Celtic Don’t
Celtic were held at Parkhead by a resolute Aberdeen team yesterday afternoon, and boss Brendan Rodgers has since explained the ‘luxury’ the Dons have that his team doesn’t.

Despite throwing the kitchen sink at the visitors towards the death, the Bhoys couldn’t find a match-winner and were ultimately left frustrated.
2-0 up and cruising at the break, things were rosy for the Celts going into the second half. Amidst some costly complacent errors, though, Rodgers’ men collapsed and surrendered their two-goal advantage by the hour mark.
The boss was annoyed post-match, admitting his side should have emerged victorious and that they lacked a killer instinct in front of goal.
Rodgers also explained how yesterday’s opponents have a key advantage over Celtic this season.
“They [Aberdeen] are a good team, well coached,” he said (BBC Sportsound via Football Scotland).
“They have got the luxury of having time because they have no European football. They can train, prepare and have good energy going into each game once a week.”
Unlike the Premiership champions, Aberdeen only have to worry about domestic football this season.
Celtic always has a gruelling fixture schedule, particularly before Christmas, as they juggle the league, league cup, and Europe.
Regardless, though, yesterday’s game should have been put to bed early in the second half.
Instead, the hosts let their opponents back into it and paid the price.
Things don’t get any easier for the Bhoys on Wednesday night when they travel to face Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.
Last season’s Europa League winners will provide a stern test for Rodgers’ men, who cannot afford a result and performance similar to the one in Dortmund a few weeks ago.
