Keith Wyness: Rangers hit by ‘worrying’ new takeover blow
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has warned Rangers are “not particularly attractive” to potential investors in their current state.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the lack of broadcast revenue in Scotland and uncertainty over how many European spots are available will mean the Ibrox club struggle to find a buyer.
Rangers are currently without a long-term chairman, CEO or head of football operations after a raft of exits at the Glasgow giants.
Wyness exclusively revealed to Football Insider last month (22 September) that a “Far East investor” is currently weighing up a potential Ibrox takeover bid.
A US consortium has also been linked with a potential investment at Rangers in recent months.
On the pitch, Philippe Clement’s side are already five points behind Celtic and failed to qualify for the Champions League in August.
