The Portuguese coach had one of the shortest ever reigns as Rangers manager, lasting only 229 days in charge
Rangers shortest-serving manager of all-time Pedro Caixinha has been sacked from his FIFTH club since his ill-fated Ibrox reign.
The globetrotting Portuguese coach has been shown the door by Brazilian club Red Bull Bragantino after failing to halt a seven-game winless run.

Caixinha, who took charge of the Sao Paulo-based side in January 2023, won two successive Manager of the Month awards last autumn and led Bragantino to two semi-finals in the Paulista league.
However, club officials have decided to part ways with the 53-year-old after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Botafogo left them on the brink of the relegation zone.

A club statement announced: “Pedro Caixinha is no longer the team coach. The Portuguese steps down after 50 wins, 38 draws and 36 defeats in charge. The club reached two Paulista league semi-finals in 2023 and 2024, and achieved its best-ever points total in the Brazilian league last year.
“As well as Pedro Caixinha, his assistants Pedro Malta and Jose Belman and fitness coach Polyvios Kyritsis will also leave the club. We thank them all for their dedication and professionalism during the near two years they were here, and wish them success with their future careers.”
Caixinha spell in Scottish football was described as “a desperate mess from start to finish” by BBC Scotland’s chief football writer Tom English after he was axed in October 2017, just seven months into his Ibrox tenure.

He returned to management in South America with Mexican outfit Cruz Azul the following year before coaching teams in Saudi Arabia and Argentina and rocking up at Bragantino in December 2022. But he’s now been dismissed from all five of his jobs following his shambolic stint in Glasgow.
Despite the club’s dismal run of form, Bragantino fans feel Caixinha should not have paid the price for recent failings as they pointed to figureheads in charge of the club for deciding to sell many of their best players.

One fan wrote: “Caixinha is a good coach. It’s not his fault that Bragantino got rid of its best players and didn’t replace them,” while a second commented: “Have you seen the Bragantino team? Not even Caixinha could fix it.”
