Philippe Clement clarifies Vaclav Cerny injury return timeline for Rangers
Rangers seem to be jinxed when it comes to injury problems to key players with, arguably, Philippe Clement’s strongest front three missing for the trip to Pittodrie – a fact neglected by pundits and fans alike.
The manager made a raft of changes to his starting XI with the decision to bench Jefte not going down well with fans.
It is a squad that is already at breaking point, however, there was a sliver of good news for Rangers in terms of the prognosis for Vaclav Cerny.

Rangers fans get good news with Vaclav Cerny injury detail
With five goals and one assist in four games, the Czech international has been in fine form and became one of the first names on the team-sheet so it was a huge blow when Cerny missed the Aberdeen game.
Speaking before the clash with the Dons, Clement revealed that the 26-year old did everything possible to be fit, only to just miss out on the advice of the medical team:
“Yeah, he has an injury, just a small injury,” Clement said when asked on RTV about Cerny’s absence.
“The medical staff said he was not able to play today and that it was not possible, they tried everything to get him fit but it was a really short time after the game to get ready for this game.
“He has been very important the last four games with five goals and a lot of effort for the team.”

What are the chances of a permanent move for Cerny?
Cerny has nine goal involvements in 15 appearances in a total of 987 minutes since joining on loan from Wolfsburg in the summer.
After an impressive start, he suffered a dip in form with a glaring miss against Lyon seeing him targeted for abuse from sections of the Rangers support.
Since then, and after an emotional interview, Cerny has been Rangers best player and has shown the composure from out wide that has been missed in recent seasons, particularly on the right-hand side of the attack.
Cerny wouldn’t come cheap having cost Wolsburg in the region of £6m when he signed from Twente in 2023 but, if Rangers want to progress, they need to buy proven quality.
