For the Ibrox side, they faced second-placed Aberdeen who sit one above them in the Premiership. It ended in more woe as the pressure is piled on boss Philippe Clement with a 2-1 loss, and never mind being nine points behind the leaders, third-placed Rangers trail the Dons by that same margin.

Controversial Celtic chief’s SPFL return
Former Celtic general manager and commentator Jock Brown has returned to Scottish football, in a role as Hamilton Accies’ chairman.
Brown was appointed by Celtic in June 1997 but left less than a year-and-a-half into it amid criticism over his running of the Hoops. He was a key figure under Fergus McCann and helped in the appointment of Will Jansen, who guided Celtic to denying Rangers 10 titles in succession. Brown’s rocky relationship with the boss had Jansen quitting two days later, with the GM becoming an unpopular Celtic figure.
Accies owner Seref Zengin said: “Dr Brown’s extensive background as an established solicitor and renowned sports commentator, having served prominent networks such as Sky Sports, ITV, BBC, STV and Setanta, positions him as a leader with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the football world.”
Clement comments probed
Pundits Chris Sutton and Kris Boyd have raised eyebrows at Clement’s post-match comments after defeat at Pittodrie. He said it was one of the team’s ‘better’ performances until which left the ex-striker pair baffled.

Rangers hero Boyd said “It’s just excuses, the longer this goes on, the more excuses come out, they’ve lost three of the opening 10 and it’s not good enough.” Sutton was even more scathing, the Celtic favourite adding: “It’s not embarrassing from Big Phil – well, it is embarrassing – but it’s more delusion. What is he talking about?”
