Former Rangers’ managerial target lifts title in stunning fashion
Kevin Muscat has led his Shanghai side to glory in the Chinese Super League, culminating in a sensational 5-0 demolition of Tianjin Jinmen on the final day.

Muscat has etched his name in history as the first Australian manager to achieve championships in the J-League, A-League, and now the Chinese Super League.
His Shanghai Port team showcased their relentless attack, finishing the season with a remarkable 96 goals — an average exceeding three per game, clinching the title just ahead of local rivals Shanghai Shenua.

A former Rangers player who celebrated a treble triumph in 2003, Muscat was considered as a successor to Michael Beale last year, only to see the position go to Philippe Clement.
Now, a year later, Clement finds himself under mounting pressure, mirroring the struggles faced by his predecessors.
In stark contrast, Muscat’s journey has been meteoric. After successful stints with Melbourne Victory and now Shanghai Port, he stands as the only Australian manager to conquer all three leagues.
On the final day, Muscat’s squad exhibited an exhilarating style of play, with former Chelsea star Oscar contributing to the rout.
