Rangers claim ‘Extraordinary’ ahead of Olympiacos showdown in Europa League
Hugh Keevins has issued an “extraordinary” reminder about Rangers ahead of their UEFA Europa League clash with Olympiacos on Thursday.
There is an element of negativity around the Light Blues ahead of their trip to Athens on 7 November after they scrambled to a 2-1 win against Motherwell in the League Cup semi-final at the weekend.
Philippe Clement and Co. have been warned of the looming threat of the Greek giants, but Keevins believes it would be unwise to rule the Ibrox outfit out.
“Europe remarkably brings something out in Rangers that you rarely see at domestic level”, Keevins said on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard (5 November).
“They’re capable of the most extraordinary results when you least expect them. So, do not write them off but they’ll have to be so much better than they were on Sunday.”

Rangers’ performances in all competitions this season have left much to be desired across the board, with the club sitting nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the title race.
However, Keevins is perhaps right about Clement’s side being better in Europe. They have notably won two of their three Europa League games so far, with their only defeat coming against Lyon on 3 October.
The Gers played FCSB at home in their last European outfit on the back of a demoralising 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock but showed no effects of it as they fired four goals past the Romanian outfit.

They also had a decent run in the Europa League last term, progressing into the last 16 before crashing out against Benfica.

A win against Olympiacos would, therefore, be a huge boost of confidence for Rangers, who will then host Hearts at home in the league on Sunday (10 November).
Like the Gers, the Athens-based club have won two of their three Europa League games so far, with their only loss also coming against Lyon.
In other Rangers news, a new claim regarding a potential Ibrox return for Steven Gerrard has emerged.
