Former top Rangers scout joins EFL club as sporting director as Ibrox hunt goes on
Rangers continue to hunt for a number of off-field positions to fill big spots in the boardroom.
The Ibrox club have yet to replace James Bisgrove as chief executive as well as John Bennett as chairman after he stepped down for health reasons back in September.
Of course, John Gilligan was the man to step into his fellow board member’s shoes on an interim basis but the club are on the lookout for a permanent solution.
Another job the Light Blues are hoping to recruit for is a sporting – or technical – director.

Nils Koppen has been in the door for a number of months as director of football recruitment specifically but the Belgian needs help in terms of the running of the club on a day-to-day basis alongside manager Philippe Clement who might also benefit.
We at Rangers News listed three technical director options recently with Rangers seeking experience.
But one familiar face who could potentially have been considered is a former top domestic scout who had been at the club for a number of years after being brought in by Mark Allen.
Robert Clarkson joined Carlisle as their sporting director after working with Rangers and the English FA
Robert Clarkson was brought in back in 2017 and worked initially as a first-team scout before he was promoted to becoming the leading domestic scout.

That had him leading a team of six with former bosses Steven Gerrard and then Giovanni van Bronckhorst benefitting from his talent-spotting.
Clarkson would eventually depart the club in 2022 to take up a top role at the FA as part of their talent ID programme that works from under 18 level right up to the senior squad.
Rangers need a sporting director as well as chairman and new chief executive
Now he has joined EFL club Carlisle in the English set-up as their sporting director in a move which shows he is ready for the big seat having worked in different recruitment positions.
Experience at the highest level might still elude Clarkson to a point but the young Englishman could yet have a serious future behind the scenes in British football.
