Lewis Ferguson opens up on Rangers disappointment after what he was told
Lewis Ferguson has shared his disappointment at being released by Rangers at a young age and branded it “one of the most difficult points” in his career.
The Bologna midfielder was let go by the Light Blues at 14 as he wasn’t deemed good enough and subsequently moved to Hamilton Academical.
The 25-year-old, who was looking to follow Derek and Barry at Ibrox, didn’t let that pull him down, and he’s now thriving in Italy.
“This was one of the most difficult points in my career when I was younger. At 14 I was told I wasn’t good enough to play for Rangers. A club which I supported of course because it had a strong connection with my family,” he said on Serie A uncut.
“I just used the disappointment as motivation to prove people wrong but just to become a footballer in general was my dream.”

It feels like Rangers let a quality player go, with the Scotsman now the captain of Bologna, who are playing in the Champions League this season.
The Light Blues have struggled to keep up the pace at the top of the Scottish Premiership table this season and are nine points behind Aberdeen and Celtic.

On the pitch, the 33-year-old’s performances haven’t been anything to rave about either, and many have called for him to be axed from the squad.
In the middle of the park, Clement has relied on Connor Barron and Nicolas Raskin to provide cover to the defence and link up with the attack.
While both of them have played well, and Barron’s infectious quality has been refreshing for the Ibrox faithful to see, the team still lack a bit of cutting-edge in the engine room.
Ferguson would’ve been capable of providing that at Rangers, but it’s unlikely that the Bears will get to see the midfielder play at the club during the prime of his career.
