Kevin De Bruyne verdict on Rangers and Philippe Clement after Belgium links
Si Ferry can’t see Kevin De Bruyne playing under Rangers manager Philippe Clement after he was linked with the Belgium job.
The 50-year-old is seen as a candidate to replace Domenico Tedesco at the Red Devils [Daily Record, 18 November], although Ibrox News understands that they won’t approach the former Monaco head coach unless the Gers sack him.
De Bruyne is the national team captain, and speaking on Open Goal [21 November], Ferry believes the Manchester City superstar wouldn’t be too pleased with Clement’s style of play at Ibrox.
“De Bruyne has got a massive say at Belgium,” he said. “I can’t imagine De Bruyne looking at a Rangers game and going, ‘That’s how I want to play football’.”
Philippe Clement needs to leave Rangers
Clement is lucky that he’s still in a job at Rangers, and the Ibrox faithful would gladly see him leave if Belgium were to come knocking.
MORE RANGERS STORIES
The Gers fans were rightfully optimistic about prospects going into the 2024/25 campaign, but the Glaswegian club are currently third in the Scottish Premiership, nine points behind table-toppers Celtic.
Apart from poor results, the Light Blues’ performances haven’t been up to par either, with Clement’s team barely scraping past Hearts in their previous league match on 10 November.

The Bears haven’t been exciting to watch under the 50-year-old, having scored just two goals away from home in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Clement should’ve been relieved of his duties some time back, but it looks like Rangers’ financial plight has deterred any decision from being made.
It’s surprising to see Clement even being mentioned alongside a top national team like Belgium, and it’s likely that the former Monaco head coach won’t get the job.
In other Rangers news, James Tavernier has been mooted to replace Clement as the manager.
