Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon that the Bears are desperate to sign Neil and are willing to pay a small fee for him to make that happen. The 24-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and despite not featuring regularly, he is willing to stay at Sunderland until it runs its course.
Several clubs in England are interested in Neil, and he wants to see out his contract before making a choice on his next destination.
Although there is no agreement between Rangers and Sunderland yet, the Bears are thought to be in the best position to sign him before the deadline on 2 February.
