WE CAN NOT:Leeds United Powerless to Appeal Gabriel Gudmundsson Red Card After Crystal Palace Controversy

Leeds United have been left with no route to appeal the red card shown to Gabriel Gudmundsson during their heated clash with Crystal Palace, despite growing debate over the decision.
The Swedish defender was dismissed after receiving two yellow cards from referee Thomas Bramall during the Premier League encounter at Selhurst Park. Gudmundsson’s first booking arrived following a challenge on Brennan Johnson, before a second caution was issued later in the match for another foul that ultimately reduced Leeds United to ten men.
Although the decision sparked frustration among Leeds players, staff and supporters, the club cannot lodge an appeal because the sending-off resulted from two yellow cards rather than a straight red.
According to the regulations of the Premier League and the The Football Association, clubs are only allowed to appeal dismissals that come from direct red cards. When a player is sent off for a second booking, the referee’s decision is considered final and cannot be challenged.
That means Gudmundsson is set to serve an automatic one-match suspension, leaving Leeds without the defender for their next league outing.
The decision has nevertheless sparked widespread discussion after the match, with some pundits questioning whether the second challenge truly warranted a booking. However, regardless of the debate, Leeds have no official mechanism to overturn the call.
For manager Daniel Farke, the focus will now shift toward reshuffling his defence as the Whites prepare for their next test in the Premier League without Gudmundsson.
