Despite falling behind in recent seasons, the ex-Ibrox chief believes the foundations are in place for Rangers to mount a serious challenge and follow a similar path to Celtic’s rapid resurgence under Postecoglou.
Postecoglou took over a struggling Celtic side in 2021 and quickly rebuilt the squad, guiding them to the league title in his first season and laying the groundwork for sustained domestic dominance. Now, with Celtic having taken the upper hand in recent years, the former Rangers figure claims the Light Blues can mirror that kind of transformation—if the right decisions are made both on and off the pitch.
“The right manager, smart recruitment, and a unified vision—that’s what made the difference at Celtic,” he said. “Rangers can absolutely do the same. They already have a solid core and passionate support behind them.”
He pointed to the importance of backing a long-term plan, avoiding panic buys, and instilling belief within the squad. The key, he stressed, is to act decisively during the summer transfer window and bring in players who fit a clear tactical philosophy.
With Philippe Clement now at the helm and growing pressure to wrestle back domestic superiority, all eyes will be on Rangers’ next moves.
