Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland has agreed personal terms or finalized a move to Rangers. However, speculation continues to mount as the 29-year-old approaches the end of his contract at Tynecastle, which is set to expire this summer.
Shankland, who has been a prolific scorer for Hearts with 48 league goals over the past two seasons, has publicly acknowledged that he is unlikely to renew his deal with the club. In an interview, he stated:
“Right now, at this moment in time, my contract will be finishing. I won’t have one at Hearts, so that indicates that you move on.”
Rangers have long been linked with Shankland and were reportedly close to securing his signature in previous transfer windows. With his impending free-agent status, the Scottish giants are expected to renew their interest. Former Rangers defender Andy Halliday described the potential acquisition as a “no-brainer,” emphasizing the striker’s proven goal-scoring ability and the financial prudence of a free transfer.
Celtic has also been mentioned as a possible destination, though Shankland’s known support for Rangers could influence his decision. As the summer transfer window approaches, both clubs may vie for his services, but no agreements have been finalized at this time.
