Tom Lawrence has been one of Rangers’ best players this season with the playmaker being pivotal for Philippe Clement already.
After getting back to winning ways against Dundee United on 15 September, the travelling fans shared their gratitude towards Lawrence after his dazzling goal in the opening minutes. While there was speculation over his future during the summer transfer window [Fanatik, 12 June], Clement will no doubt be glad that the former Derby man stayed put.
In light of his recent performances, it wouldn’t make sense for the Belgian to replace the midfielder even though deadline-day arrival Nedim Bajrami was brought in for £3.3million [Gianluca Di Marzio].The number 10 role was an overarching dilemma throughout the entirety of the summer transfer window but it seems that the Gers didn’t have to worry. While last season wasn’t Lawrence’s best in terms of output, being named a “dispensable” member of Clement’s squad [Rangers Review, 10 June], the 2024/25 campaign is on course to be his best at Ibrox.
Lawrence appears to have proved his doubters wrong and has shown that he deserves to be a regular starter for Clement moving forward.
