Tottenham investment U-Turn on cards for MSP Sports Capital amid £3bn update
MSP Sports Capital could still make a U-turn on their decision to end their interest in becoming a co-owner of Tottenham, according to football finance expert Dan Plumley.
MSP had previously expressed an interest in purchasing up to a 40 per cent stake in Daniel Levy’s stakeholding but pulled out of the race to acquire a share of the Lilywhites [TBR Football, 14 June].
Although Plumley believes it will take a fee north of £3billion to takeover Spurs, he believes that there is a chance that MSP or other potential investors could return to attempt to acquire Ange Postecoglou’s side.
“In the current climate, every club is for sale at the right price,” Plumley exclusively told Tottenham News.
“The price is always going to be the sticking point and if you look at the investment potential at Spurs, we know there’s a significant return on investment there in the long run if you want to go down that route.
“We’ve spoken about how well they’ve managed the books over the years, sometimes to the detriment of the on-field performance, but that’s almost by the by in terms of the finances.
“You’ve got the new stadium, you’ve got all the extra benefits that brings and all the partnership and extra events we’ve seen.
“It is an attractive club to own in the future, but the reality of that is if you are going to complete a full takeover of the club, it’s going to be in the £3billion-plus category and there’s only a certain amount of people or consortiums in the world who have got that kind of money.

“If MSP are having a look and have decided not to take it further at this stage, they might come back around again and there will be other investors that we’ve been made aware of that are looking at Spurs.
“You can see the potential and I genuinely think with the way that the football market is, there’s a lot of untapped potential, there’s a lot of growth opportunities and depending on how much money you’ve got as an investor, determines where you would pitch your site.
“I think there’s a conversation to be had for every club being for sale at the right price.”

Will MSP complete Tottenham takeover from Daniel Levy?
It isn’t exactly a secret that Spurs are looking for investment currently and they won’t be short of interest because the club is an incredibly attractive opportunity.
It will be interesting to see whether or not MSP do return to the table in North London having conducted their work behind the scenes already, or if alternative parties emerge in the race to acquire a stake in Tottenham.
