Rangers told to lawyer up as ‘further SFA sanctions on the cards’ – Exclusive
Rangers face further punishment from the Scottish FA over their reaction to being £3,000 for remarks made by John Brown on RangersTV.
Brown said that Scottish football was “corrupt” when Nicolas Raskin had a clear goal not given against Hibernian on the final day of the Scottish Premiership season.
The SFA have since punished Rangers after issuing a Notice of Complaint about the former Ibrox defender’s outburst while commentating on the 2-2 draw at Hibs.
The Light Blues have demanded the introduction of goal-line technology as a result of Raskin’s ‘ghost goal’, but they’ve also released a near-threatening statement about the SFA.

Rangers have said they will be closely watching the SFA following their £3,000 fine for Brown’s on-air allegation that corruption exists in the Scottish Premiership.

The Govan club suggests that Brown’s comment was “informal, tongue-in-cheek and emotional commentary” that “comes with the territory”.
Former Premier League and FIFA-listed referee Keith Hackett doesn’t believe that Rangers’ statement is something the SFA should let slide.
He reckons that if the Gers really think there’s more to this punishment than meets the eye, they should go about their business quietly and professionally and appoint a lawyer to help reach a resolution.
“It is evident to me that one of Scotland’s oldest clubs has lost confidence in the disciplinary process,” Hackett told Ibrox News.
“The SFA can act and review what has been written [by Rangers] and issue further sanctions.
“I would suggest that Rangers should appoint an independent legal expert to review this case and the processes that the SFA have in place.
“Are the processes fair? Are the processes independent? Are the outcomes consistent?
“What frankly needs to stop is a public debate through media channels.
“Clubs have to have confidence in due process. They have to have confidence in the Scottish FA.
“The two parties need to meet over the weekend to resolve this issue.”

What Brown said deserved to be punished. Even Tom Miller admitted that he doesn’t think his co-commentator’s comments were allowed.
The club is accusing the SFA of a lack of consistency, but how often have club media channels had someone openly accusing them of corruption because a couple of people made a mistake while doing their job?
Rangers clearly know the weight of words based on this statement. They need to stop baying to the mob that seem to think corruption is rife in Scottish football when refereeing mistakes affect every club and are largely down to incompetence.
