BBC NEWS: Krstovic transfer depends on Sunderland’ amid £21.5m Leeds update

Leeds United and Sunderland have formed somewhat of a transfer rivalry this summer.

After missing out on the signings of Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki to Sunderland, Leeds will want to get their own back, though they may wait to do that on the pitch next season. However, recruitment is still set to play a crucial role in deciding the success that they can find in the Premier League, amid links to Lecce’s Nikola Krtsovic.

The 25-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Whites, though it is now becoming likely that any deal could hinge on happenings at the Black Cats.Sebastian Bornauw became Leeds’ third signing of the summer window, following Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha through the door at Elland Road. However, Sunderland are just been on bringing Mikautadze to the Stadium of Light, and if they succeed, Roma would then turn their attention to the latter, and with European football to offer, there’s a high chance that he would accept it.

It has already been claimed that the striker is holding out for a move to a European side [Corriere Dello Sport], hence the reason behind the delay with a deal at Leeds.

Krstovic looks set to leave Lecce this summer, with a deal around the region of £21.5million likely to be enough to seal his exit.
