Connor Barron Rangers injury fears for Kilmarnock trip after Scotland 21s knock
Rangers could face an injury sweat over Connor Barron as he has withdrawn from Scotland under-21s’ next game.
The young midfielder, 22, has proved a smart pick-up after his Aberdeen contract expired even if it is yet to be decided by a tribunal what fee is to be paid.
Barron has settled into Ibrox life well and appears to be one of Philippe Clement’s preferred options in the centre of the park, usually alongside Mo Diomande.
He perhaps didn’t have the best of times in the derby, but other than that his performances in a blue shirt have been largely encouraging. Still young, he can grow into the role further.

Barron picks up injury ahead of Kilmarnock vs Rangers
Barron is a regular and a key man in the Scotland under-21s squad and he was called up as expected for this crucial double-header as they look to qualify for the Euros.
He started against Belgium on Friday but the young Scots couldn’t pull off a big result as they went down 2-0, but the Rangers man played the full 90 minutes.
They are now set to take on Kazakhstan tomorrow, but it is being reported by the Daily Record that the 22-year-old has not travelled.
It is said to be only a “slight knock” and a precaution, but with the trip to Killie only six days away, there is no guarantee Barron won’t be required to sit that one out too.

Leon King is another who has withdrawn, along with Kilmarnock pair David Watson and Bobby Wales, which could of course weaken them for Sunday’s clash.
Rangers keeper Lewis Budinauckas wins first cap
It was better news for young Gers goalkeeper Lewis Budinauckas, who won his first cap in the Belgium defeat.
Regular first pick Cieran Slicker was unavailavle and that gave the 22-year-old the chance to impress.
He said: “I only found out before the game I was playing. With Cieran not in the squad I was hoping to get a chance. It was my first ever game at any level for Scotland. We defended very well for large parts of the game but at this level, it’s small details.
“Belgium are a top team and it was always going to be tough but I felt we did so well, it was just the tiniest of margins that meant we lost. We just need to pick ourselves up, do our part by winning the game and hope for a favour from Hungary.”
