One-half of Aston Villa’s owners has seen their personal fortune increase by £810m over the last 12 months.
As fortunes on the field for Villa under the ownership of NSWE have improved, with the club already making a mark in this season’s UEFA Champions League having returned to European football’s top table for the first time in 40 years, so too will the financial picture at Villa Park if the current success can be sustained.

Villa’s value increased year on year when the 2024 Forbes Soccer Valuations List was published back in May, with a jump of 6% to £640m. It is likely that figure will be improved further by the time next May’s list comes around, potentially improving by double figures.
Villa is owned by US billionaire Wes Edens and Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris under the parent company NSWE. Sawiris serves as chairman.

The past 12 months has been one of real success for Villa on the competitive front, which will hopefully be reflected in improved financial performance over the next 18 months or so. But for Sawiris, the last year has seen his own personal fortune go on a significant incline.
Sawiris, 63, is Egypt’s richest person, owning 39% of Dutch fertilizer company OCI. He also owns a stake in sports manufacturing giant Adidas, and 6% of Madison Square Garden Sports, the holding company that manages the New York Knicks NBA team and New York Rangers NHL team. He has various stakes in other industrial businesses, also.
Having a diversified portfolio is often the goal for investors, and Sawiris appears to be no different, with he and Edens acquiring Villa back in 2018, bringing an end to the Tony Xia reign.
