Nathan Patterson Everton update after ex Rangers star’s future called into question
Nathan Patterson has seen his Everton future called into question in recent days.
The former Rangers star hasn’t kicked a ball this season due to continuing injury issues which have plagued him since his £16million move to Goodison Park. But even when he was fit, he struggled for game time with manager Sean Dyche seemingly unconvinced.
Patterson saw experienced Ireland international Seamus Coleman ahead of him but also the likes of Ben Godfrey, Ashley Young and James Garner play instead of him at times to. He has less than 50 top team Toffees appearances over three seasons, many from the bench.
That has led prominent journalists on the Everton beat to question whether the ex-Rangers man has a future at the Premier League side.

Dyche gives Nathan Patterson update
The 23-year-old has been playing games for Everton under-21s in the Premier League 2, getting around an hour on his first two apperances and then completing a 90 minutes against Wolves.
That would make it seem like he is getting nearer to being able to play competitive games for the first-team, but the manager has put a dampener on that. Dyche insists Patterson’s route to returning to his side will be “longer-term”, even though he is making progress.
Sean Dyche told Sky Sports: “He is just on his longer-term plan to get him back. He is looking fitter and sharper all the time.
“Not quite there yet, but he is training all the time and so far he has come through it clear of injuries which is really important.”

Patterson has ‘unfinished business’ at Rangers
Patterson came through the Rangers academy as a huge prospect but despite showing undoubted ability, had captain James Tavernier ahead of him at right-back.
That meant he probably didn’t get as much football as he or the club would ordinarily have liked even though he did deputise for the skipper when possible.
That is possibly a factor in the 23-year-old admitting he would love to come back to Ibrox one day with the stated aim of winning more trophies. His Everton struggles mean that could even be possible sooner than later, and fans would love that too with Tavernier on the wane.
“Of course I’d love to go back to Rangers later on in my career and finish what I started,” said Patterson in December 2022.
“It would be great to finish at Ibrox. It’s where I started off my career so it would be nice to play in front of those fans again.
”There’s a bit of unfinished business for me. I was involved in 55 but I’d like to go back and get more titles.“
