Ex Rangers star admits Philippe Clement dilemma as he wants to avoid ‘rinse and repeat’ scenario
Philippe Clement’s Rangers future appears to be very much up for debate since the latest disappointment at Kilmarnock.
Gers were very underwhelming and aside from the obvious issue of losing the game, fans are struggling to hold onto any positive signs from the display in Ayrshire.
Some furious fans have begun to turn on Clement and are asking for a change in the management position, insisting the outcome is “inevitable” for the Belgian.
At the same time, the Belgian has been telling supporters how he will turn things round after defeat to Kilmarnock left them six points behind Celtic and Aberdeen.
He seems to be in a similar position to Michael Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst after a similar period of time in charge and will certainly need to see an upturn.

How long will Rangers boss Philippe Clement be given?
The question then is how long do the Rangers board give it before they decide a change is needed?
There are some big games on the horizon, starting with FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday. There is also Aberdeen away on a Wednesday night next week and defeat there could be seen as a disaster.
But would club chiefs act then? If not, when?
Alan Hutton isn’t too sure on that and while he admits he doesn’t want to see the club continue to go through a churn of managers, he does think you can only be patient to a point.

The former right-back told the Premier Sports Social Club show: “Not very many, is the honest truth. I’ve been the one that has said they have given him the contract and they need to stop this rinse and repeat with players and managers – ‘right you need to use this squad, then somebody else comes in’ – it has to stop at some stage.
“But, I ultimately understand it’s a results business. I do think the squad is good enough to get results, especially domestically, but it’s getting the best out of them. If it doesn’t pick up – performances as well – you are in a high stakes position. You won’t last long.”
What would be the Rangers tipping point for Philippe Clement?
The Belgian has now been in charge for just over a year, which is a very similar timescale to the one Michael Beale was afforded.
The general feeling is that the team has not moved on from then, despite that initial bump under Clement.
The Englishman paid the price for a defeat to Aberdeen and that could, ironically, be what does for the 50-year-old too.
As that could leave the Light Blues nine points behind not only Celtic but the Dons too, and staring at the unthinkable but very real possibility of finishing outside the top two.
