BBC DEAL CONFIRMED: Newcastle United have completed the signing of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa.

Newcastle United have reached a full agreement to sign midfielder Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, marking the club’s fourth major addition of the 2025 summer transfer window. The 24‑year‑old England U‑21 Euro 2023 winner has agreed a five‑year deal and will don the No. 41 shirt at St James’ Park. While the official fee remains undisclosed, reports indicate a spell‑binding package: approximately £39 million upfront plus up to £4–5 million in add‑ons, driving the total deal value to around £43–44 million.

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe praised Ramsey’s blend of youth, hunger, Premier League experience, and attacking versatility, affirming he “brings something different on the pitch.” Ramsey himself expressed excitement, calling the move “a big one” and notably swift—deciding to join as soon as he knew Howe was interested.

The transfer has also drawn reactions from Aston Villa figures—John McGinn and Tyrone Mings shared tributes to Ramsey’s character, hinting at broader frustrations tied to financial compliance pressures under PSR/FFP regulations.
