Derek McInnes Rangers prospects handed boost after Alex Ferguson Ibrox development
Derek McInnes may have been handed a boost to become Rangers manager after Sir Alex Ferguson bought a property near Ibrox.
Philippe Clement has come under serious pressure as Gers manager in recent weeks, with the recent defeat against Aberdeen being the final straw for some supporters.
This has seen multiple managers linked for the potentially soon-to-be-vacant role in the dugout, with a return for Steven Gerrard mooted after facing criticism in Saudi Arabia [Football Scotland].
Another name linked as a replacement for the Belgian is Kilmarnock boss McInnes, who may have been handed a fresh boost in the race to become Rangers boss.

This isn’t the first time that the 53-year-old has been linked with the managerial role with the Light Blues, as he turned down the opportunity to replace Pedro Caixinha in 2017 [Scottish Sun].

The ex-Aberdeen boss was also a contender to take over from Michael Beale after his sacking before Clement was offered the job.
Despite not being the chosen one, Ferguson was willing to supply him with a reference to help him become manager at Ibrox [The Times].
This didn’t see McInnes clinch the role on that occasion, but with the ex-Manchester United boss buying a Glasgow property in recent weeks, this could hand the Killie man a boost.

The 82-year-old snapped up a flat in the west end of the city in order to spend more time with his brother Martin and also be closer to his “other team” at Ibrox [Alan Nixon].
With Ferguson closer to the Light Blues and McInnes linked with the managerial job, there is a chance that the influence of the legendary manager could play a role in the coming weeks or months.
