Rangers to look at permanent Neraysho Kasanwirjo transfer from Feyenoord on one condition
Rangers will look to make Neraysho Kasanwirjo’s loan move permanent if he proves he can handle the constant pressure of playing for the club, says Derek Ferguson.
The 22-year-old defender has featured across the back line since his temporary switch from Feyenoord at the end of the summer transfer window, and was the man who captain James Tavernier first dropped out of the starting XI for at right-back against St Mirren on 26 October.
Fellow new Dutch arrival Robin Propper has been comparatively struggling and may be in line to make a relatively swift exit from Ibrox back to the Eredivisie, so Ferguson feels Rangers might look to rectify their error on the former FC Twente captain by keeping hold of Kasanwirjo instead.
He believes the versatile youngster looks to have many of the right physical attributes to thrive in Scotland, so if he can show he has the mental characteristics too then he might stick about long-term.
Tavernier is unlikely to remain past the end of this season and Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury issues continue, so Kasanwirjo’s ability play both full-back spots, as well as centrally, is a major positive.

Ferguson exclusively told Ibrox News: “I think so, aye. Again, what it’s all about is not just that you impress but you can start to win games and try to do it with a bit of style.
“But we’re still to find out about the boy as well, in terms of will he be enjoying this?
“Because the scrutiny and the pressure you come under when playing with Rangers, it might be suiting him, it might not.

“So we’ll find that out as the season goes on. Sometimes players don’t enjoy that, it’s 24/7 up here, so whether he’s able to adapt to that.
“And I know I say ‘enjoy it’, because you’ve got to. That’s how I think [Connor] Barron’s done ever so well because he seems to enjoy that. He thrives on it.
“So that’s the type of character you’ve got to be. It’ll be interesting, we can see Kasanwirjo’s a good player. He’s got the pace, the power, but has he got the character? That’s what we’ll find out.”
