Turbulence at the top of an English Championship club has sparked a recruitment guru formerly of Rangers and Celtic to quit.
John Park only returned to Blackburn Rovers in the summer, but is on the way out of Ewood Park after five months as head of recruitment. He previously was leading Blackburn’s recruitment department in the 2021-22 season, but departed after the exit of Tony Mowbray as manager at the end of that campaign.
Journalist Alan Nixon claims that there have been “power struggles” between top officials at Blackburn over recent months, with the set-up now appearing “top heavy.” Park has now departed the club again, having held roles at Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, Motherwell, Hamilton Accies, Maccabi Haifa in Israel, Vancouver Whitecaps, Legia Warsaw and Birmingham City.
He was recruited as Football Development Manager by Celtic and became the club’s recruitment chief. More recently, he held a position in a senior scouting role at Rangers, after leaving Blackburn first time around.

Speaking on going back to Ewood Park in the summer, Park said: “It was a club that was close to my heart when I left and I’ve always kept in touch with the people at the club, so I’m really looking forward to the challenge of trying to put another team together.
“I enjoyed it immensely first time around. I loved the area and I loved the people. The staff were really kind to me and I felt a good affinity with everyone here, and I think that’s what endeared me to come back.”
