Rangers may be forced to accept quick new investment in boardroom decision
Rangers may be pressured into accepting quick new investment at Ibrox, Dan Plumley has said.
Alan Brazil recently suggested that the Ibrox board are being too selective with who they want to welcome on board, with people queuing up to put money in.
Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that clubs must complete good due diligence as things can go wrong easily, but insists that desperation can play its part.
“I think desperation is the word to focus on there,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“In general business terms and from a good, strategic advisory point of view at boardroom level, you absolutely want to be vetting the people who want to invest in that football club, you want to do the due diligence, whether or not that is being picky, that’s just in the optics of how we dress that up.
“What a board should be doing is good due diligence on any investor who wants to come in and be part of that club because we’ve seen it go very wrong as well.
“You need to make sure you get that right and it has to be the right fit for the club. I don’t see any issue with the board looking at that and going ‘We need to think carefully and we can’t just be chasing the biggest offer on the table’, I think that is the right way to look at it.
Rangers to accept quick new investment
“I also think it does become how desperate are you to get investment in. What do you need it for? I think ultimately from a business point of view, you would want to stick to your principles and do it right.

“Football is short term as well, and it can be that risk and pressure cranking up so you may be forced into a decision quicker than you would like to.”

It is no secret that the Rangers board are open to outside investment [Andy Newport], but it is said it has to be the right person.
Big changes are on the horizon at Ibrox at every level, with investment potentially at the heart of it.
