‘Exorbitant’ request from Everton sees club walk away from January transfer chance
Juventus have walked away from the idea of signing Beto in the January transfer window, because of Everton’s ‘exorbitant’ demands.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say Juventus weren’t willing to pay what Everton have proposed for the striker.
Beto has been heavily linked with a move away from Everton for weeks after seemingly growing tired of the bit-part role that Sean Dyche has given him.
Juventus had been considered a potential option for him as they’re seeking a striker to back up Dusan Vlahovic, with Arkadiusz Milik currently out injured.
That need for an extra option was made clear this week as the whole club was left scared Vlahovic had picked up an injury during the international break.
Fortunately for the Italians that did not prove to be the case and so director of football Cristiano Giuntoli has cancelled any plans to sign a striker permanently.
This has seen him also rule out a move for Beto, as he judged the ‘requests’ that Everton made to be ‘exorbitant’. This was also the case when he asked about Lorenzo Lucca at Udinese.
There’s no mention of what Everton’s demands were, just that Juventus wouldn’t be paying them and felt they were far too high.
Where that leaves Beto remains to be seen, with it clear now he wants out of Everton if his prospects aren’t going to change drastically in the next month. Sadly, a redemption arc at Juventus won’t be on the cards, though.
