New Rangers CEO has links to legendary Premier League manager currently out of work
Rangers look all set to end their six month search for a new CEO with the appointment of Patrick Stewart.
The Gers are reportedly closing in on a deal bring Stewart to Ibrox alongside new prospective chairman Malcolm Offord.
Tory peer Offord joins from the House of Lords, whilst Stewart is a former Manchester United chief with 18 years of experience at Old Trafford.
And it’s that experience Rangers might well call on as one currently unemployed Premier League manager turns heads with Philippe Clement on the brink.

Patrick Stewart faces Rangers manager call
One of the first tasks facing Patrick Stewart should his deal at Rangers be concluded will involve the situation with manager Philippe Clement.
By Clement’s own admission Rangers are not where they need to be this season with the club 11 points off Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
It’s heaping the pressure on the Rangers manager with apathetic Ibrox fans sick and tired of the mismanagement at their club at every level.
The last few years have been nothing short of disastrous and we don’t envy Patrick Stewart coming into an environment where standards are so patently out of whack with the expectations of supporters.

Ex-Manchester United manager a free-agent
Premier League manager David Moyes might not be your traditional pick for the Rangers manager’s gig.
But the 61-year-old former Celtic defender is currently a free agent after being leaving his role with West Ham United at the end of last season.
The former Everton manager started his playing career at Parkhead in the 1980s before moving into the English game as a player.
Now, David Moyes is considered one of the Premier League’s most experienced operators and even had a stint with Real Sociedad in Spain back in 2014.
Famously replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2013 – a tough act for anyone to follow – Moyes would’ve been well acquainted with incoming Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart.
Stewart was working in his role as general counsel and company secretary between 2006 and 2019, a period when the exec would’ve been part of the team who both hired and fired David Moyes.
With Philippe Clement’s future on a knife-edge, if the Belgian fails to turn it around, we wonder if the legendary Scottish manager’s number might be in the Rangers chief’s contact book.
