Gers announced on 25 November that the former Manchester United employee had taken over the reins behind the scenes at Ibrox. He will not officially begin in his role until 16 December but the club still decided to make an announcement.
Speaking to Scottish Sun Sport’s YouTube channel on 25 November, Boyd said at 2:20: “When you’ve been at Manchester United that long, it doesn’t mean you’re going to be an excellent CEO but what it does tell you is that you’re good at your job because you don’t last at big clubs for that long if you’re not any good. You would expect it to galvanise the club because there is no doubt that Rangers have need someone at the top.”
