Rangers ‘good bit of business’ lauded as Michael Gannon drops Celtic comparison
Rangers’ transfer business during the winter window has been lauded after striking terms for a player with “good potential”.
The Gers are always looking across the pond to see what their Old Firm rivals Celtic are up to at Celtic Park, and this window might be one that Philippe Clement can hold over his current enemy.
Brenden Rodgers’ needs and wants went unanswered, having lost star striker Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes, and while the Light Blues only made one loan signing, they are planning ahead to the future.

Signing on a pre-contract agreement as his current deal at Dundee expires at the end of the season, midfielder Lyall Cameron is set to arrive at Ibrox in the summer.

“I’m trying not to but you can’t really avoid it, comparing it to the impact made by Luke McGowan at Celtic. He’s a bit older, I know he’s 22, but he’s got good potential.
“McGowan went to Celtic and he looks every bit as good a player, and I think Cameron can do the same at Rangers. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on.”
McGowan moved to Celtic Park on a free transfer in August 2024 from Dundee, and while he is much older than Cameron, it showcases the kind of impact Gers fans can expect from the new signing.

The 22-year-old, who only recently joined the Light Blues on a free transfer, has fallen down Clement’s pecking order, but that only highlights the vast amount of quality currently at the manager’s disposal.
Cameron will need to make a huge impact upon his arrival if he is to retain a spot in the starting XI, but given his performances this season, that should not be difficult.
Clement’s rebuild continues to take shape at Ibrox and the signing Cameron is just one step closer to completing that.
