Oscar Cortes’ loan at Sporting Gijon has reportedly been terminated by Rangers. The 22-year-old winger joined Gijon on loan in September, but has made just eight appearances in all competitions for the La Liga 2 club.Rangers signed Cortes for £4.5million last summer after an initial spell on loan at Ibrox from Lens, but despite the huge transfer fee involved in his permanent move to Scotland, the Colombian has been out of the picture.
He played just twice for Russell Martin at the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign, and it seems he’s not in Danny Rohl‘s plans either, with a new move already lined up for the one-time Colombia internationalAccording to Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Cortes is signing for Club Atletico Huracan. It is understood that the Argentinean Primera Division club is signing the Rangers winger on a one-year loan, which includes the option to make the deal permanent.
Huracan’s league season begins later in January, meaning that he could join the Buenos Aires club on a full-time basis later in 2026.
