Wayne Rooney has landed a new job after leaving his role as manager of Plymouth Argyle. The former Everton, Manchester United and England star parted ways with the club on New Year’s Eve after a disastrous run of form which left the Championship side sitting rock bottom.
The 39-year-old returned just five wins during his 25 game tenure in charge of Argyle. He has since expressed his desire to return to management but his latest role will be on our TV screens.Rooney is set to be part of the line-up of pundits on Amazon’s Prime Video for the Champions League coverage tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 11). After parting ways with Argyle, Rooney was appointed ambassador for Football Escapes, where he will oversee a children’s training camp. He’s also reportedly scheduled to be at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, in Dubai, from Monday, February 17 until Friday, February 21 for his upcoming role.
Parents and their children are being enticed to that programme with the promise: “This is your chance to give your kids the opportunity to train with one of football’s greatest icons.” As per the Football Escapes website, the starting prices for this combined holiday and training experience for a family of four range from £4,650 to £8,650.Everton’s neighbours Liverpool, meanwhile, will only return to European action next month – after qualifying automatically to the round-of-16 and finishing top of the standings. Arne Slot’s side will either play Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, AS Monaco or Brest.
