McManaman slams Everton star over ‘stupid decision’ v Liverpool
Everton star Abdoulaye Doucoure was slammed for a “stupid decision” that he made in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The Blues were heading towards a loss before James Tarkowski slammed home a stunning equaliser in the 97th minute on 12 February.
The goal was subject to a lengthy VAR check but was eventually given leading to a rapturous Goodison Park atmosphere going up a level.
Those emotions spilled onto the pitch and Doucoure was involved in unsavoury scenes after the contest.

The Blues star decided to celebrate the result in front of the travelling Reds supporters which led to a confrontation with Curtis Jones.

McManaman was stunned by the Mali international’s decision as both himself and the Liverpool man were shown red cards after the full-time whistle.
Speaking on TNT Sports (12 February, 22:09 pm), he said:

“You always know that something negative is going to come out of it, he played well today but they have lost him now for the next game.
“If they go and lose next game, what a stupid decision.”
Doucoure loss will be a huge blow for Everton
The 32-year-old is a key figure for David Moyes and was instrumental in the Toffees securing a positive result against their arch-rivals.
However, he could not control his excitement after the referee blew the whistle and will now find himself suspended for the clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday (15 February).
The ban could be extended if the Football Association decides that his actions were against the laws of the game, a recent ruling on celebrations may go against the Blues star.

Emotions are obviously high after such a big result but Doucoure should have known better, if his actions do come back to haunt Moyes’ side as McManaman suggested then he will rue his decision to stoke the flames of an already red-hot rivalry.
Why the experienced player felt the need to do what he did, knowing the potential ramifications will perplex Moyes, especially if he is without his star man for an extended period.
Ultimately though, the Blues will be delighted with result and the heart shown by their players to get back into the contest and Doucoure was a key reason for that.
