49ers takeover announcement imminent after shock Leeds news
Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises have a huge development on their hands as a potential takeover deal has emerged.
The 49ers took over the Whites back in the summer of 2023 and have now seemingly shown an interest in acquiring another club.
While nothing is yet set in stone regarding the potential takeover despite the sale of some of the 49ers’ assets already being weighed up, it seems like a deal is on the cusp of being agreed upon with the impact on the West Yorkshire outfit not yet known.

49ers close to completing takeover of Rangers
Paraag Marathe, Leeds’ current chairman, has played a big part in the potential deal to takeover Rangers with the American businessman already proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with at Elland Road.
And now, Keith Jackson of the Daily Record (19 February), who reported the breaking news on the advanced talks between the Gers and the 49ers-led group, anticipates a statement from the 49ers “very shortly”.
Jackson shared that talks have been ongoing for months which means that the relationship between all the involved parties will already be fairly established.

“I believe it stretches back towards the end of last year, so that’s about four months’ worth of negotiations. It’s not just something that’s come to light or somebody just coming to the table and expressing an interest,” he said.
“There have been a lot of discussions and now we’re at the point that something like a statement could come very, very shortly. I would expect a statement of at least some talks or an offer.”
Leeds United owners making moves away from Elland Road
Since the 49ers took control of the West Yorkshire outfit in 2023, things have gone fairly smoothly.
While the Whites may have missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, it feels like things are well on their way to see Leeds win the Championship title this term.
Which, at the end of the day, is likely all that Leeds’ fans want.
Leeds United are leading the way in the Championship as it stands.
They’ve been one of the most dominant forces in the Championship since the 2024/25 campaign kicked off and with Rangers also potentially being owned by the 49ers in the future, it feels like things can only start to get better from here.
There will still be plenty of moving parts in the deal of course and nothing is ever set in stone in football but if talks are advanced as what Jackson says they are, the 49ers could find themselves as owners of yet another British football club.
